Jenny Stead obtained her Honours degree in Speech and Drama from the University of Stellenbosch during which time she was nominated for a Fleur du Cap as The Most Promising Student. After graduating she pursued an acting career.
A multi award winning actress, over the past 20 years Jenny has forged a career playing diverse roles in numerous theatre productions. In 2004 Jenny joined the New York Collonade’s theatre production of ‘Truth In Translation’.. Led by Michael Lessac (son of the renowned Arthur Lessac, creator of Lessac Kinesensic Training for the voice and body) Jenny gained a wealth of knowledge from working with both Michael and Yvette Hardey in exploring the Lessac vocal techniques while touring throughout Africa, Europe and America. The techniques she developed through this work deepened her knowledge and visceral understanding of voice and performance which she draws from when training clients.
In 2012 and 2013 Jenny worked with a corporate training company and Standard Bank coaching delegates who obtained trinity public speaking certificates.
Jenny enjoys her training work tremendously and finds it incredibly beneficial using her years of performance experience in a more intimate environment with people who have never been comfortable speaking in public, with those who are working to find their voices and with those who wish to improve their communication skills.
Jenny is known to South African audiences for her role as Bianca in the etv sitcom SOS. Her film and television credits include ‘The Poseidon Adventure’, ‘Starship Troopers 3’, the Golden Globe nominated ‘Restless’, a recurring role in season 2 of ICE but she is best known for her NSFW NBC grindhouse tv series ‘Blood Drive’ where she played a middle American, psychopathic, suburban wife.
Jenny won critical acclaim for her portrayal of Janet in the Rocky Horror Show which played to sold out houses for over 300 shows and in which she further explored the daily demands of singing and performing nightly for several months at a time. Her 4th Fleur de Cap Nomination was for the Visit in 2018.With her clients, Jenny applies her in-depth understanding of vocal and performance techniques (both on camera and on stage) and her vast experience as a performer to help them build their confidence and achieve their communication goals.
